42links
Bookmarking server supporting multiple accounts.
A self‑hosted web service for storing and managing bookmarks, 42links focuses on a simple read‑it‑later list while supporting multiple user accounts. It automatically retrieves each link’s favicon and title, offers an API for programmatic access, and can attach notes to individual bookmarks. Built‑in utilities include a 404 checker and quick links to the Internet Archive for fallback access.
The server imports existing collections from Wallabag or any standard bookmarks.html file, making migration straightforward. Its design avoids unnecessary client‑side code; the interface works without JavaScript, and the entire application runs as a single static binary, keeping deployment lightweight.
Implemented in Lisp, 42links can be upgraded by replacing the binary alone. It is released under the BSD‑3‑Clause‑No‑Military‑License, provides a free tier, and requires no subscription, positioning it as a minimal, extensible solution for users who prefer to manage bookmarks on their own infrastructure.
