AMD Power Gadget

The software provides a kernel extension for macOS that enables power management and sensor monitoring on AMD Zen processors. It supplies CPU power control, temperature, energy, and frequency readings, and allows manual speed switching and PState editing through an accompanying graphical tool. A second extension can publish these measurements to VirtualSMC, making them available to macOS utilities such as iStat.

Installation requires adding the power‑management kext to the bootloader’s extensions folder and, if VirtualSMC integration is desired, loading the sensor‑publishing kext afterwards. The tool includes an advanced options pane for PState configuration and an experimental fan‑speed control interface that works with a limited set of SMC controllers. Safety checks restrict PState changes to root users, with an option to bypass the check.

The project targets macOS users who run AMD Zen CPUs and need fine‑grained control over power and cooling, as well as those who want sensor data accessible to standard macOS monitoring applications. It is distributed as stable releases, with optional newer builds available via continuous‑delivery pipelines.
