AMPPS
Software stack for website development
AMPPS provides a local development environment that bundles Apache, MySQL, MongoDB, PHP, Perl, Python and the Softaculous auto‑installer into a single package for macOS. It lets users install and switch between multiple PHP versions with one click, keeping the stack up‑to‑date within hours of official releases. The included WordPress Manager offers one‑click plugin, theme, and core upgrades, as well as cloning, staging, remote import, and debug mode toggling for WordPress sites.
The stack is designed to be lightweight, delivering only the core components and allowing additional applications to be added through Softaculous. Over 400 open‑source web applications—such as Joomla, Drupal, Magento, and phpBB—can be installed with a single click, simplifying the setup of common development projects. Domain, database, FTP, and backup tools are integrated to support managing multiple sites on a local network.
AMPPS targets web developers who need a ready‑to‑use, configurable environment for testing, debugging, and deploying web applications without the overhead of a full server installation. Its focus on easy version management, a broad app catalog, and local domain handling makes it suitable for both solo developers and small teams working on PHP‑based projects.
