BeMyEars provides real‑time captioning for any audio playing on a macOS system, converting spoken words into subtitles with a sub‑second delay. It captures sound from the speakers, works with browsers, video‑conferencing apps such as Zoom, Skype and Google Meet, and can also record the transcribed audio to an m4a file for later export.

The application runs entirely on the device using Apple’s CoreML and Speech frameworks, so no audio or video data is uploaded, preserving privacy. It supports live‑device transcription and a range of languages, including multiple Chinese dialects, American and British English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Indonesian, with additional languages added on request.

Designed for users who need immediate subtitles—such as people with hearing impairments, remote learners, or anyone watching uncaptioned media—BeMyEars also offers a volume‑warning feature to protect ear health. It requires macOS 15 (or later) and is optimized for Apple Silicon, and is distributed as a free‑tier app on the App Store.
