Blockbench
3D model editor for boxy models and pixel art textures
Blockbench is a 3D model editor focused on low‑poly and pixel‑art workflows. It provides tools for constructing models from cuboids to achieve a Minecraft‑style aesthetic, as well as mesh‑modeling capabilities for more complex low‑poly shapes. Texturing features include palette creation, painting directly on the model in 3D space, a 2D texture editor, and automatic UV map generation, allowing users to start painting without manual UV setup.
The program also includes an animation editor where models can be rigged and animated using position, rotation, and scale keyframes, with a graph editor for fine‑tuning motion. A built‑in plugin store lets users extend functionality, add new export formats, or create custom tools, and developers can write their own plugins to support additional formats.
Blockbench is released as free, open‑source software under the GPL license and runs on macOS. It is used by a range of studios and indie developers for creating low‑poly assets and pixel‑art textures.
