BookMerang is a platform that lets readers list and exchange physical books with other users locally or globally. After creating a profile and confirming an email, a user can list up to three books they own and are willing to swap, then browse other members’ listings to find matches. When a match is found, the participants arrange delivery through their own chosen courier service, and decide whether the exchange is permanent or a “boomerang” that is returned after reading.

The service includes social‑profile features inspired by Letterboxd, allowing users to track reads, share reviews, follow others, and set a wishlist status that signals what they are seeking. Exchanges are rated with a custom “boomerang” system, and all accounts require email verification to maintain a trusted community.

Each participant also receives a customizable virtual room where they can display personal bookshelves, collectibles, and décor, as well as link a Spotify playlist to set a reading mood. The platform focuses on facilitating peer‑to‑peer book swaps while keeping shipping responsibilities separate from the service.
