BunkerWeb functions as a reverse‑proxy web server built on NGINX that adds full Web Application Firewall capabilities to protect web services. It blocks common threats such as OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, malicious bots, and DDoS attacks, while handling HTTPS certificates and traffic routing. The core includes primary security features and can be extended through a plugin system, allowing additional protections to be added as needed.
The software is designed for easy integration into a range of environments, including Linux hosts, Docker containers, Docker Swarm clusters, and Kubernetes deployments. Configuration can be performed via a command‑line interface or an optional web UI, giving users the flexibility to enable, disable, or tune security settings to match specific use cases.
