Caprine provides a desktop client for Facebook Messenger that runs on macOS, Linux and Windows. It connects to the official Messenger service while offering a set of optional UI customisations such as dark and vibrant themes, adjustable text size, and emoji style choices. The application includes standard desktop conveniences like keyboard shortcuts, menu‑bar mode on macOS, Touch Bar support, and silent automatic updates.

The client is positioned as privacy‑focused, aiming to minimise data exposure compared with the official web or mobile interfaces. It respects system Do Not Disturb settings and allows users to apply custom CSS styles for further visual control. Additional features include support for Facebook Work Chat, rendering of code blocks, and various macOS‑only enhancements.

Caprine is distributed as open‑source software under a permissive licence and is available free of charge.
