Collabora Online Development Edition

Collabora Online Development Edition (CODE) provides a web‑based office suite built on the Collabora Office core, offering collaborative editing of text documents, spreadsheets, presentations and drawings. It supports a wide range of file formats—including LibreOffice’s native types and Microsoft Office formats such as .docx, .xlsx, .pptx—as well as PDF and CSV. Users can create, edit, comment on, and export content directly from a browser, with features like advanced formulas, pivot tables, charting, and drawing tools.

The edition is intended for testing, home use, or small teams and is not recommended for production deployments. New builds are released roughly monthly, giving early access to the latest improvements and experimental features. It can be installed on‑premise via virtual appliances, Docker containers, or Linux packages, allowing integration into personal or organizational infrastructure.

CODE is open‑source under the MPL‑2.0 license, self‑hostable, and offered without a subscription model. It targets developers and hobbyists who want to experiment with a LibreOffice‑based online editor, contribute to its development, or evaluate its capabilities before moving to the stable, officially supported Collabora Online version.
