Conduit
A simple, fast, and reliable chat server powered by Matrix.
Conduit implements the Matrix specification as a single‑binary chat server that can be run on modest hardware. It embeds RocksDB for storage, allowing a lightweight installation that can be completed in minutes without the need for external services. The design prioritises simplicity and low system requirements, aiming to be faster than larger Matrix implementations in many scenarios.
The software is intended for individuals or organizations that want to host their own decentralized communication platform while remaining compatible with the broader Matrix ecosystem. Users on a Conduit homeserver can exchange messages with any other Matrix server and can employ bridges to reach external networks such as Discord.
Conduit is released under the Apache‑2.0 license, is self‑hostable, free of subscription fees, and maintained as an open‑source project. It is considered stable but still in beta, with some minor features yet to be completed.
