EthosBar

EthosBar runs in the macOS menu bar and continuously polls the status pages of a curated set of cloud services, including GitHub, AWS, Stripe, OpenAI, Cloudflare and more than 90 additional providers. It updates an icon in real time—green when all monitored services are operational, red when any are experiencing an incident—so developers can see at a glance whether an outage is external before they begin debugging their own code.

The tool is built in pure Swift, avoiding Electron, and relies on a Cloudflare Worker that queries each status endpoint once per minute and caches the result. This design keeps the local app lightweight and eliminates the need for multiple network requests. Users can configure which services to watch, receive smart notifications, drill down into specific components, and trigger webhooks or AI‑driven analyses such as incident history, chat assistance, and weekly digests.

Targeted at developers who frequently interact with third‑party APIs and cloud platforms, EthosBar aims to reduce time spent on false‑positive debugging. It is offered free for the core set of ten services, with optional paid features for expanded monitoring and advanced AI capabilities.
