FHEM

Automate common tasks in the household like switching lamps and heating. It can also be used to log events like temperature or power consumption. You can control it via web or smartphone frontends, telnet or TCP/IP directly.

FHEM is a GPL‑licensed Perl server designed for home automation. It runs continuously on a 24/7 machine such as a NAS, Raspberry Pi, PC, or MacMini and interfaces with hardware through sticks and USB devices. The system can control appliances like lamps, shutters, and heating, and it can record sensor data such as temperature, humidity, and power consumption.

Control is offered through multiple frontends: a built‑in web interface, smartphone apps for iOS and Android, and direct access via telnet or TCP/IP (plain, SSL, or HTTP). FHEM automatically creates device entries and plots when new sensors are detected, and it can log events to files or databases, apply regular‑expression filters, and trigger external scripts based on defined conditions. Timed commands enable actions such as turning a lamp on at sunset and off at midnight.

The platform supports a wide range of protocols and devices, including HomeMatic, Z‑Wave, EnOcean, Philips Hue, KNX, MQTT, and many audio/video and media systems. Its modular architecture comprises over 430 modules, allowing users to extend functionality or integrate custom hardware without modifying the core server.
