Filestash

Filestash provides a web‑based interface for browsing, organizing and sharing files stored on a wide range of back‑ends, including FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, SMB, S3, Minio, Dropbox, Google Drive, Git, IPFS and many others via a plugin system. The core client runs in the browser using vanilla JavaScript, while a self‑hosted server component handles authentication, authorization and gateway functions that expose the same data through standard protocols such as SFTP, S3, FTP and WebDAV.

The platform is built around a plugin‑driven architecture, allowing users to extend storage support, authentication methods, and file‑type applications without adding unnecessary bloat. Available plugins cover virtual filesystems, role‑based access control integrated with external services, and a workflow engine that can trigger actions like notifications or file‑transfer pipelines. A collection of “file apps” enables direct viewing and editing of specialized formats such as raw photography, FITS astronomy files, GIS data, music MIDI, and scientific documents.

Filestash is released under AGPL‑3.0, self‑hostable, and free to use without subscription. It targets administrators and developers who need a unified, customizable front‑end for heterogeneous storage environments, while also supporting enterprise features such as SSO integration, white‑label branding, and audit compliance.
