Fontplop
Open Source Webfont Converter
FontPlop is a macOS desktop application that converts TrueType (ttf) and OpenType (otf) font files into a web‑ready bundle. The tool generates modern webfont formats—woff2, woff, and the original ttf/otf—allowing designers and developers to embed fonts in websites without relying on legacy formats such as EOT or SVG. A sample CSS snippet is provided to illustrate the required @font‑face rule.
The program targets users who need a quick, free alternative to the discontinued FontPrep service. It is packaged for easy installation via Homebrew Cask and includes a simple graphical interface for selecting source fonts and exporting the resulting assets. The project is maintained as open source, with automated builds, linting, and Jest tests forming part of its development workflow.
FontPlop emphasizes speed and simplicity, focusing on the most widely supported webfont formats while omitting older, rarely used types. Contributions are welcomed through its GitHub repository, and the project is supported by a community of backers and sponsors.
