Mangareader is a lightweight viewer for digital comic books that presents the pages of a folder or archive as a single, continuously scrollable page in the default web browser. It supports common comic archive formats such as CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR and 7Z, and image types including BMP, PNG, JPG, GIF, APNG, SVG and WebP. Users can navigate with standard browser controls, choose automatic resizing, and switch between left‑to‑right or right‑to‑left horizontal layouts, while light and dark themes adjust the visual appearance.

The application targets readers who prefer a minimal, offline experience without library management, bookmarks, or cloud sync. It is packaged as a ready‑to‑run executable for Windows and macOS (beta), requiring no installation beyond extracting the download. Advanced configuration is possible through a generated config.ini file, allowing options such as custom browser selection, hiding navigation elements, or enabling dynamic image loading to reduce memory usage.

Developers can build the binary from source using Python, Node.js and PyInstaller, or run the program directly via npm scripts for testing. The focus remains on delivering a simple, fluid viewing experience for comic images.
