Lapce
Lightning-fast and powerful code editor.
Lapce is a modern, open‑source code editor written in Rust that targets high performance through a native GUI built with the Floem toolkit. It launches quickly, renders each keystroke without perceptible lag, and leverages GPU acceleration for smooth interaction. The editor includes built‑in terminal support and uses Tree‑sitter for fast, accurate syntax highlighting, while also providing native Language Server Protocol integration for code completion, diagnostics, and other intelligence features.
The tool is designed for developers who need remote development capabilities; it can connect to a remote machine and present a “local‑like” editing experience, and it integrates with the Lapdev platform for managing Kubernetes‑based development environments. Lapce also offers a Vim‑style modal editing mode out of the box, eliminating the need for additional plugins to achieve that workflow.
Extensibility is provided through a WASI‑compatible plugin system, allowing developers to write extensions in any language that compiles to WASI without learning a new API. The editor is distributed under an open‑source license and is available for multiple architectures, including x86‑64 and ARM, with both installer and portable packages.
