LinkShell bridges a local PTY session with a mobile device, letting developers take control of Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or standard shell terminals from iOS or Android phones. After installing the CLI, a user starts the bridge, which can run a built‑in gateway, connect to a remote gateway, or use the official hosted gateway, then scans a QR code with the mobile app to assume control of the session. The connection preserves full terminal semantics—including colors, cursor movement, readline handling, and signals—so the remote view behaves like the local terminal.

The tool supports additional features such as remote desktop preview via a screen flag, port‑forwarding for web development, and a single‑controller model that prevents concurrent focus conflicts. It also integrates with React Native/Expo for cross‑platform clients and offers a “dynamic island” UI on compatible iPhones for quick status updates and action approvals from AI agents.
