Logisim Evolution
Digital logic designer and simulator
Logisim‑evolution is an open‑source, cross‑platform application for creating and simulating digital logic circuits. It provides a graphical canvas where users place components such as inputs, gates, LEDs, and switches, connect them with wires, and observe signal values in real time. The tool includes a chronogram view that shows how signals evolve, supports VHDL‑defined components, and offers a TCL/TK console for interactive control. A large built‑in library and the ability to load custom libraries enable extensive circuit design, while multilingual support and accessibility features make it usable in diverse environments.
The software is aimed at students, educators, and hobbyists who need a straightforward environment for learning or teaching digital logic, as well as developers who wish to prototype circuits before implementing them on hardware. Its integration with electronic board simulation allows schematics to be tested on real devices, bridging the gap between virtual design and physical implementation.
Logisim‑evolution runs on any system with Java 21 or newer and is distributed as compiled packages for Windows, macOS, and Linux that include the Java runtime. The project is maintained as a stable release, with source code and contribution guidelines available on GitHub.
