Archive manager that supports previewing and extracting archive files
MacPacker is a macOS utility that lets users view the contents of archive files without first extracting them. It can open a wide range of formats, including RAR, 7z, ZIP, TAR and more than thirty additional types, and it also supports navigating nested archives directly within the preview interface.
When a user selects an archive, the application displays its directory structure and file list, allowing quick inspection of individual items. Extraction is performed on demand, so only the chosen files are written to disk, reducing unnecessary file handling.
The software is released under an open‑source license and is available free of charge. It is positioned for macOS users who need a lightweight, reliable way to inspect and retrieve files from various archive formats without relying on separate decompression tools.
