Misago provides a full‑featured internet forum built with Django and React, offering user registration, profile management, and password recovery. It supports authentication through more than fifty OAuth providers such as Facebook, Google, GitHub, Steam and Blizzard.net, and includes configurable anti‑spam measures like email activation, CAPTCHAs, and IP blacklists. Administrators can organize content into unlimited categories and subcategories, control permissions by rank or role, and moderate posts with tools for editing, moving, hiding, approving, deleting, and closing threads.

The platform supplies rich posting capabilities, allowing GitHub‑flavoured markdown, BBCode, or both, with attachments, thumbnail generation, and GIF animation removal. Features include private threads, polls, best‑answer marking, edit history with rollback, and a read‑tracker that highlights new activity. Moderation queues, bans, custom profile fields, and GDPR‑related settings give site owners extensive control over user behavior and data compliance.

Misago is self‑hostable, open‑source under GPL‑2.0, and runs on Python 3.12. It ships with a Bootstrap‑based theme, Docker images for easy deployment, and a JSON API for integration with external sites. Future enhancements plan to add GraphQL, a plugin system, and a WYSIWYG editor.
