OpenCode

OpenCode is an open‑source AI coding agent that can be used from a terminal, desktop application, or IDE extension. It connects to a wide range of language models—including those from Claude, GPT, Gemini, and any provider supported through Models.dev—so users can employ free models or their own subscriptions. The agent automatically loads the appropriate language‑server protocol for each project, supports multiple concurrent sessions, and allows sharing of session links for reference or debugging.

The tool is designed for privacy‑first environments: it does not store code or context data locally, making it suitable for sensitive workflows. Integration with existing services such as GitHub Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus/Pro is provided, and users can also run local models if desired.

OpenCode runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and is distributed as a desktop client in beta. It is maintained by a large community with extensive GitHub activity, and it aims to deliver reliable, benchmarked model performance for coding assistance without requiring additional proprietary infrastructure.
