Optimus Player

Optimus Player is a macOS‑only media player built on the FFmpeg libraries, enabling playback of a wide range of audiovisual files. It supports more than 250 file formats and over 400 codecs, allowing users to open everything from common MP4 and MKV videos to less common containers such as Ogg.

The application emphasizes accurate color reproduction by using macOS video and graphics technologies to display colors as intended by creators, and it is the first third‑party macOS app to provide AirPlay 2 audio support, streaming lossless sound to multiple rooms while keeping audio and video synchronized.

Additional features include dual subtitle tracks for mixed‑language viewing, VoiceOver accessibility, hardware‑accelerated video decoding for smoother playback and lower power consumption, and system integration such as Now Playing controls, window state restoration, and a native macOS user interface.
