Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection
Collection of small computer programmes which implement one-player puzzle games
The collection offers a suite of small, single‑player puzzle programs that run natively on Unix (GTK) and Windows, with additional web‑based versions implemented as JavaScript/WebAssembly applets. Each game is a re‑implementation of an existing puzzle concept, packaged within a common framework so that the same binary can be used across supported platforms. The repository includes a variety of puzzles such as Black Box, Bridges, and Cube, each accompanied by a manual and downloadable Windows executable; all games are also bundled for other systems via the download page.
Designed as lightweight desktop toys, the programs are intended for brief play sessions, providing quick mental breaks without requiring extensive setup. The framework’s portability means that new front‑ends can be added for additional platforms, extending the collection’s reach beyond the core Unix and Windows builds.
The project is maintained as a stable, open‑source codebase under a permissive licence, and while the macOS build is currently unmaintained, users can still access the games through the web version.
