QDirStat
Disk utilisation visualiser
QDirStat is a graphical disk‑usage visualiser for macOS that presents the size of directories and files in both a traditional hierarchical tree and a colored treemap. Each rectangle in the treemap represents a file, with larger rectangles for larger files, and colours indicate file types such as images or videos. By clicking a rectangle the user can locate the corresponding entry in the tree view and, if desired, move the file to the trash directly from the interface.
The application is built with Qt and derives from the original KDirStat project, but it runs without any KDE dependencies. macOS binaries are provided pre‑built, notarized, and can be installed via Homebrew or by dragging the downloaded DMG into the Applications folder. The software requires standard macOS permissions to read user directories and may request Full Disk Access for scanning system locations.
QDirStat targets users who need to understand and reclaim disk space on macOS, offering an interactive visual overview that simplifies the identification and removal of unwanted files. Its stable release status indicates that the core functionality is mature and ready for everyday use.
