QR Journal
Allows users with an iSight (or compatible) camera to read QR codes
QR Journal lets macOS users capture and decode QR codes using an iSight or compatible camera. The app displays a journal of previous scans and offers a toolbar to start a new scan, where the camera looks for a QR pattern and, once recognized, shows the embedded text or URL. Users can also drag image files containing QR codes into the import window to decode them without a camera.
After a successful read, the code can be saved to the journal for later reference, or the scan can be cancelled or skipped. The interface supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 10.14 or newer, with legacy versions available for older releases.
QR Journal includes an optional AppleScript hook called “URL Watch” that runs a user‑provided script named scanned_code, passing the decoded string as an argument, enabling custom actions such as opening the URL or logging the result.
