Quarto is an open‑source publishing system that lets authors create articles, websites, blogs, books, slides and other formats from plain‑text Markdown or Jupyter notebooks. It processes documents with Pandoc and supports execution of code in Python, R, Julia and JavaScript, allowing dynamic content such as figures, tables and interactive visualizations to be generated automatically during rendering.

The tool targets researchers, data scientists, educators and anyone who needs reproducible, production‑quality technical documents. By using familiar syntax for equations, citations, cross‑references and advanced layout, users can produce output in HTML, PDF, Microsoft Word, ePub and additional formats, and can publish to platforms such as Posit Connect or Confluence.
