Shotcut
Free open-source video editor.
Shotcut provides native, non‑linear editing of video and audio without requiring an import step, allowing multiple formats, resolutions and frame‑rates to coexist on a single timeline. It relies on FFmpeg for support of hundreds of codecs and offers frame‑accurate seeking for many file types. The program can capture from a variety of sources, including Blackmagic Design SDI and HDMI, webcams, screen captures, network streams, and standard audio interfaces, and it handles output up to 4 K.
The interface consists of dockable panels such as media properties, playlist with thumbnails, filter controls, history, encoding options and a job queue. Drag‑and‑drop from the file manager and keyboard shortcuts for playback, trimming and navigation streamline the editing workflow. A built‑in server and playlist management further aid project organization.
Shotcut runs on Windows, macOS and Linux under a free, open‑source license, and it is updated regularly with new releases every two months. It is suited for users who need a cross‑platform editor that works directly with a wide range of media formats and hardware inputs.
