Slate
Think in markdown. Reason with AI.
Slate is a macOS‑only knowledge‑base application that stores information as plain‑text Markdown files. It keeps notes locally, allowing fast access and editing without reliance on cloud services. The design centers on the Markdown format, which is also the native input that large language models (LLMs) can parse and generate.
The app integrates an AI reasoning component that can be invoked directly from a note. By sending the current Markdown content to an underlying language model, users can obtain generated summaries, suggestions, or answers that are inserted back into the document. This creates a loop where personal notes feed the AI, and the AI’s output becomes part of the evolving knowledge base.
Slate targets users who prefer lightweight, text‑based note taking and want to augment their workflow with AI‑driven assistance while remaining on their local machine. Its experimental status indicates ongoing development and potential feature evolution.
