Smederee provides a self‑hostable platform for collaborative software development that centers on the Darcs version‑control system. It offers hosted code repositories with fine‑grained access controls, including read‑only access for unauthenticated users, and integrates issue tracking and project‑management tools that can be linked to email and mailing lists.

The service includes a web‑based code‑review interface that builds on Darcs’s email‑centric workflow, allowing teams to discuss and merge patches without leaving the platform. A forthcoming CI/CD component is announced, and the entire stack runs under an AGPL‑3.0 licence, ensuring that the software remains free, open‑source, and free of subscription fees.

Data privacy is emphasized: the platform complies with EU GDPR, does not track users, and avoids third‑party cookies or external dependencies.
