Speed Test by OpenSpeedTest™
Free & Open-Source HTML5 Network Performance Estimation Tool.
The tool runs a network performance measurement entirely in the browser using only built‑in Web APIs such as XMLHttpRequest, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and SVG. It reports download, upload, ping and jitter values without requiring any client‑side plugins, Flash or third‑party libraries, and can be served from any static web server that supports HTTP/1.1. Because the implementation is vanilla JavaScript and the script size is under 8 KB gzipped, it remains lightweight and responsive on devices ranging from phones to TVs.
It is intended for anyone who needs to assess broadband or local network quality, including end users, developers embedding a speed test in a website or app, and administrators who wish to monitor connection performance. The interface adapts to any display size and works on browsers as old as IE10.
The project is self‑hostable, open‑source under the MIT license, and can be deployed on common servers such as Nginx, Apache, IIS or Express. No subscription or proprietary components are required, and the static‑file nature simplifies security maintenance.
