Spotify4BigSur
Implements a Widget for Spotify in the Notification Center
The software provides a macOS Notification Center widget that displays Spotify playback information and allows basic control of the Spotify client. It communicates with Spotify through AppleScript, retrieving details such as track title, artist, and album art, and exposing actions like play/pause, skip, and volume adjustment directly from the widget interface.
Targeted at macOS users who run Spotify on their computers, the widget integrates into the system’s Notification Center, making music management accessible without opening the full Spotify application. It is built with WidgetKit, ensuring compatibility with macOS 11.0 Big Sur and later versions, while retaining support for earlier macOS 10.11 Notification Center environments.
The project is a fork of the earlier Spotify4Me application, reimplemented to use modern widget APIs. Installation involves copying the provided “SpotifyMain.app” into the Applications folder, launching it, and then adding the widget from the Notification Center. The release is marked as stable and is distributed under an open‑source license.
