USBImager

Very minimal GUI app that can write/read to disk images and USB drives

Visit

USBImager provides a compact graphical interface for flashing disk images onto USB drives and for reading raw images from storage devices. Users select an image file on the first line, choose a target device on the second, and initiate the write operation; the program performs synchronized writes and can verify the result by comparing the written data to the original image. It also supports reading a variety of image formats—including uncompressed and compressed files such as .img, .bin, .iso, .gz, .bz2, .xz, .zst—as well as common archive types like .zip, .tar, and .cpio, allowing on‑the‑fly extraction of the first file in multi‑file archives.

The application is distributed as a portable executable for Windows, macOS, and Linux, requiring no installation beyond extracting a small archive of under 192 KB. It runs without external dependencies, advertisements, or telemetry, and it automatically adapts its language based on the system locale, supporting eighteen languages. The software is open source under the MIT license, enabling users to inspect and modify the code if desired.

Designed for simplicity, USBImager aims to avoid accidental overwriting of system disks and offers additional utilities such as creating raw or ZStandard‑compressed backups and sending images to microcontrollers via a serial connection. Its minimalistic, native interface makes it suitable for anyone needing a straightforward tool for image writing and reading tasks.
