Volt
Client for Slack, Discord, Skype, Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, and more
Volt is a lightweight native desktop client that aggregates messaging and social platforms such as Slack, Discord, Skype, Gmail, Twitter, and Facebook into a single interface. It runs on macOS (both Intel and Apple‑silicon) and is planned for Windows, Linux, and BSD, with installation possible via Homebrew. The application is packaged in a 300 KB archive, uses the platform’s native UI APIs, and stores messages and contacts locally for offline access.
The client emphasizes speed and low resource consumption, claiming the ability to scroll through and search hundreds of thousands of messages instantly while maintaining minimal CPU and RAM usage. Authentication is delegated to the respective services’ web pages, so Volt never requests or stores passwords. No advertisements are displayed, and the software does not transmit user data to external servers.
Volt is offered free of charge, with a future premium tier for managing more than five accounts. Although not currently open‑source, the binaries are signed by the company’s European certificate, and the development model follows a community‑support approach similar to Sublime Text.
