Zotero
Free tool to collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research.
Zotero is a free, open‑source tool that captures bibliographic information from web pages, databases, and library catalogs with a single click, allowing users to build a personal library of articles, books, news items and other sources. It supports tagging, collections and dynamic saved searches so material can be organized in a way that matches individual workflows.
The software integrates with word processors such as Microsoft Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs, automatically generating citations and bibliographies in any of the more than 9,000 supported styles. Users can also add notes and annotations to items, and sync their library across desktop, mobile and web interfaces to keep data up to date.
Zotero enables collaborative sharing of libraries without cost, letting groups co‑author papers, distribute teaching materials or maintain shared bibliographies. Because it is developed by a nonprofit and released under an open‑source license, users retain full control of their data.
