AS Notes
Turn your IDE into a personal knowledge management system
The extension adds markdown and [[wikilink]] editing directly inside VS Code and compatible editors, letting developers capture ideas, documentation, blogs, and wikis without leaving their coding environment. Notes are stored as plain .md files alongside project files, so the existing file tree and Git workflow remain unchanged. Wikilinks enable quick navigation between related notes, while backlinks show which pages reference the current one, building a web of concepts as the knowledge base grows.
Built‑in editor features include advanced formatting, a graph view, and task tags for priorities, due dates, and waiting states, supporting daily workflows such as journals, tasks, and a Kanban board. All functionality is accessed through shortcuts and tools that streamline capture and organization, keeping the user focused within the editor.
The system relies on standard markdown files, avoiding proprietary databases or lock‑in formats, which allows seamless use with any text‑based tooling. A one‑time Pro licence unlocks additional capabilities, while the core experience remains free and experimental.
