Cataclysm-DDA
Turn-based survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world.
The game places the player in a procedurally generated, persistent world that has collapsed after a catastrophe. Players must locate food, water, shelter, and equipment while navigating a landscape populated by zombies, giant insects, hostile robots, and other threats. Survival depends on scavenging, crafting, and managing resources, with the option to acquire vehicles that can transport the player away from dangerous zones.
Turn‑based mechanics let actions unfold one step at a time, allowing careful planning of combat, movement, and item use. The environment reacts to player choices, and encounters with both monsters and other survivors create dynamic challenges. As the game progresses, characters can develop new abilities and adapt to the evolving conditions of the post‑apocalyptic setting.
The project is maintained as an open‑source effort with a stable release, a command‑line interface, and community‑driven resources such as forums, Discord, and a subreddit. It runs on modest hardware, though larger graphical tilesets benefit from at least 1 GB of RAM and optional graphics acceleration.
