Chromium-Gost
Browser based on Chromium with support for GOST cryptographic algorithms
Chromium‑Gost is an open‑source web browser built on the Chromium engine that adds support for Russian GOST cryptographic algorithms when establishing TLS connections. It achieves this by detecting the presence of the msspi interface, which can invoke system‑installed cryptographic providers that implement GOST, and falls back to the standard BoringSSL library when GOST is not available.
When a site advertises GOST algorithms, the browser switches to msspi for that connection, records the site as GOST‑compatible, and uses the same interface for subsequent interactions, all without requiring user intervention. This mechanism is designed to be transparent and to minimize impact on the browsing experience.
The project provides pre‑built binaries for Windows, Linux and macOS, and includes scripts for building the browser from source on each platform. It is marked as stable and intended for users who need TLS support for GOST algorithms within a familiar Chromium‑based environment.
