docmost

Collaborative wiki and documentation software (alternative to Confluence, Notion).

Docmost provides a self‑hosted wiki platform for teams that need real‑time collaborative editing, page history, comments, and full‑text search. It supports embedded diagrams through Draw.io, Excalidraw and Mermaid, as well as file attachments and external embeds such as Airtable, Loom and Miro. Permissions are managed with role‑based access control, groups, and granular view or edit rights, while spaces let organizations separate content by project or department.

The software includes an AI assistant that can be run with self‑hosted or cloud language models, offering chat‑based queries, semantic search, and the ability to retrieve answers from PDFs or DOCX attachments. It also exposes a Model Context Protocol endpoint, allowing external AI tools to programmatically access the knowledge base. Compliance features such as SSO, MFA, and audit‑ready verification workflows aim to meet standards like ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

Docmost’s core is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license, with optional enterprise extensions under a separate license. It is positioned as an on‑premises alternative to commercial solutions, offering the same collaborative and documentation capabilities without a subscription model.
