FBReader for macOS is a dedicated e‑book reader that supports a range of DRM‑free formats including ePub, fb2 (and zipped variants), mobi, rtf, Microsoft Word documents, plain text, and comic‑book archives (cbz). It also handles ePub files protected with Readium LCP. The application runs on macOS 10.14 and later, supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon hardware. Users can navigate via keyboard, mouse, or touchpad, with customizable page‑turning, scrolling, and two‑column layouts that adapt automatically.

The program offers library organization features such as lists of all titles, recent books, authors, and series, as well as bookmarks with style options and a table of contents for each work. A dark theme follows system settings, and preferences allow fine‑tuning of column margins, page headers, and footers. Multi‑window mode lets several books be open simultaneously.

Network catalogues can be added through custom OPDS feeds, and cloud synchronization is available for keeping reading positions and settings across devices. The software is distributed via the Mac App Store and a direct download, with versions for macOS 12, 11, and 10.14‑10.15.
