FontCreator

FontCreator is a desktop application for macOS that enables users to design, edit, and convert OpenType, TrueType, and variable fonts. It allows modification of existing fonts while preserving the complete OpenType layout data, including substitutions, positioning rules, lookup flags, and feature parameters, so designers can refine glyphs, metrics, and kerning without rebuilding the underlying typography.

The interface is built to be intuitive for beginners yet powerful enough for professional typographers. It offers a WYSIWYG editing environment with real‑time proofing, an upgraded shaping engine, and tools for previewing fonts in external applications or web browsers. Advanced capabilities include support for both quadratic (TTF) and cubic (CFF) curves, image import for creating fonts from scanned material, and a fully compliant Adobe feature compiler for OpenType layout editing.

FontCreator also facilitates collaboration by supporting .glyphs, UFO, and designspace file formats, allowing easy exchange of projects with colleagues and other software.
