Font Finagler

Font Finagler is a macOS utility that assists users in diagnosing and resolving issues caused by corrupt or conflicting fonts. It offers a Font Cache Cleaner that can purge font cache files quickly—up to five times faster than previous versions—allowing users to determine whether cache corruption is the source of garbled text or incorrect glyph mapping. If cleaning the cache does not resolve the problem, the tool can identify and help deactivate problematic fonts, including known offenders such as Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic.

The application also includes a Font Icon Helper, which modifies the Finder icons of PostScript Type 1 fonts to a distinctive reddish symbol, making the separate components of these fonts easily recognizable. This visual cue simplifies management of Type 1 fonts within the macOS environment.

Targeted at designers, typographers, and anyone who works with Adobe Creative Cloud, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office, or other font‑intensive applications on macOS 10.9 through 12, Font Finagler provides a straightforward workflow for isolating and fixing font‑related problems, supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, Retina displays, and Dark Mode.
