fx_cast Bridge

The companion bridge application enables the fx_cast Firefox extension to communicate with Chromecast receivers, providing casting functionality for web‑based media such as YouTube, Netflix, BBC iPlayer and other HTML5 sources. Because WebExtension APIs cannot perform the required mDNS discovery or TCP/UDP communication, the bridge runs as a native process that handles device discovery via system services (Bonjour on macOS and Windows, Avahi on Linux) and relays casting commands from the browser.

Users of Firefox who want to cast content to Chromecast devices install the bridge alongside the extension.
