Geph
Modular Internet censorship circumvention system
Geph is a VPN‑style system designed to remain invisible to ISP‑level censorship and other network adversaries. Its architecture employs a two‑hop model in which users first connect to bridge relays that assign distinct, frequently rotating bridges, then reach exit nodes. This bootstrap protocol makes large‑scale enumeration and blocking of bridges difficult, allowing the service to operate despite targeted attacks by national firewalls.
The software includes a blind‑signature authentication mechanism that lets clients prove a valid subscription without revealing any identifying information to the server, ensuring that even a fully compromised server cannot link browsing activity to a user’s identity. This cryptographic approach is documented in the project’s protocol overview.
Geph is distributed for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, and its source code, along with the website, is openly available on GitHub. The project is community‑funded through subscription tiers and is being extended toward a decentralized protocol to remove central points of failure.
