GhostVM
Virtualization tool for creating and managing isolated macOS virtual machine workspaces. ![Freeware][Freeware Icon]
GhostVM is a native macOS application that creates and manages macOS virtual machines on Apple Silicon using Apple’s Virtualization.framework. Each virtual machine is stored as a self‑contained `.GhostVM` bundle, allowing users to copy, move, or back up workspaces as ordinary files. The tool targets developers who need isolated environments for AI agents, disposable development setups, testing across macOS versions, or client‑specific work.
The application delivers near‑native performance and integrates tightly with the host system, offering clipboard sharing, file folder access, and automatic port forwarding. Snapshots and clones are handled instantly via APFS copy‑on‑write, and a full command‑line interface (`vmctl`) plus a Unix socket API enable scripting and automation of VM lifecycle, remote command execution, and clipboard manipulation.
Installation requires macOS 15+ on Apple Silicon, and the project provides source‑build instructions with Xcode 15+, XcodeGen, and standard make targets. The CLI supports creating, installing, starting, stopping, suspending, and managing snapshots of VMs, as well as remote interactions such as executing commands inside the guest or listing running applications.
