Gitify
GitHub notifications on your menu bar
Gitify displays GitHub notifications directly in the system’s menu bar or tray, allowing users to see activity from both GitHub Cloud and GitHub Enterprise Server without opening a browser. The application runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, offering a native‑like experience that integrates with the operating system’s UI.
It supports customizable settings, filters, and themes so users can tailor which notifications appear and how they are presented. Authentication is handled via a personal access token or OAuth credentials, after which the app continuously fetches and shows alerts in real time.
The project is open source under the MIT license, with installation options including a direct download from the website and a Homebrew Cask formula for macOS. Development scripts are provided for building and running the app locally, and contributions are welcomed through the repository’s issue tracker and contribution guide.
