HDRMerge

Creates raw images with extended dynamic range

Visit

HDRMerge combines multiple raw exposures into a single raw image with an extended dynamic range. It accepts any raw format supported by LibRaw, including bracketed sequences from any camera or single files that already contain multiple exposures, such as Fuji EXR and certain Pentax models. The resulting image is written as a DNG 1.4 file with floating‑point data, constructed from the least noisy pixels of the inputs to preserve shadow detail.

The tool offers both command‑line operation and a graphical interface for ghost removal, allowing users to eliminate artifacts caused by moving subjects between exposures. Its workflow relies on established registration and noise‑reduction techniques, and it outputs a raw file that can be further processed in downstream raw editors.

HDRMerge is released under the GNU GPL v3, with source code and binary packages for macOS (DMG) and Windows, and a Linux AppImage in development. It is positioned for photographers who need to retain raw‑level flexibility while extending the tonal range of their images.
