The system stores files in a single, real‑time database, eliminating the need for synchronized folders and allowing access from any browser without additional client software.

The platform targets students, research groups, and professional teams in academia and industry. It offers AI‑driven features such as instant summarisation of papers, query across entire collections, and automated literature discovery. Integrated search connects to external sources including Crossref, Scopus, PubMed, IEEE and patent repositories, enabling direct import of references into the private library. Advanced boolean search, bulk tagging, and export tools support systematic reviews and large‑scale document management.

I, Librarian emphasizes data sovereignty: deployments can be on‑premises behind a firewall or on a secure cloud, with detailed activity logs for auditability. The software is released under GPL‑3.0, is free to use without subscription, and is considered stable for production use.
