Ilya Birman Typography Layout

The Ilya Birman Typography Layout provides a keyboard configuration that simplifies entry of typographic symbols such as quotation marks, apostrophes, and special punctuation. Users can generate characters by holding the right‑Alt key, optionally combined with Shift, for example Alt + < or Alt + > produces opening and closing quotes, while Alt + Shift + C yields the cent sign. The layout also supports macOS‑specific modifier combinations (⌃⌥⇧⌘) and includes characters like single guillemets ‹› and Hungarian double acute marks ˝.

It is intended for writers, editors, publishers, and anyone who needs frequent access to typographic symbols on Windows 10 and macOS. Installation on Windows requires running two setup executables and adding the layout through the system language settings; on macOS the layout file is placed in ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts and then selected in the input method preferences. Updates replace the previous version after removal, and the layout can be removed via the standard program‑uninstall interface.
