imgproxy

Fast and secure standalone server for resizing and converting remote images.

The software runs as a standalone HTTP server that fetches remote images, applies transformations defined in the request URL, and returns the processed result. It supports common formats such as JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, and JPEG XL, and can perform resizing, cropping, rotating, watermarking, filtering, and metadata stripping on the fly. By generating signed URLs, callers can enforce authorization and protect against malicious payloads.

Designed for self‑hosting, the server is distributed as Docker images and Linux packages, allowing deployment on any infrastructure without reliance on external SaaS. It is configurable out of the box, yet defaults are tuned for typical use cases, making it suitable for developers who want to offload image manipulation from their applications while keeping processing under their own control.

The project is open‑source under the MIT license and includes a free tier with core features; a commercial Pro version adds advanced capabilities such as video preview generation, object‑detection‑based smart cropping, and further compression options. It targets web services, content platforms, and any system that needs fast, secure, on‑demand image resizing and conversion.
