QLColorCode

Quick Look plug-in that renders source code with syntax highlighting

Source

QLColorCode is a Quick Look plug‑in for macOS that displays source‑code files with syntax highlighting. It relies on the Highlight library to generate HTML (or RTF) previews, and integrates with the system’s Quick Look framework so that files are rendered automatically when inspected in Finder or other file browsers.

The plug‑in can be installed by copying it into ~/Library/QuickLook or via Homebrew Cask or MacPorts. Users may adjust settings such as text encoding, font, font size, and color themes for light and dark modes through macOS defaults commands. Additional options include limiting preview size, enabling line numbers, and passing extra flags to Highlight.

QLColorCode also supports decompiling compiled AppleScript and binary property‑list files, and it activates several Highlight plug‑ins for languages like Java, C/C++, Perl, Python, Shell, and Scala. The plug‑in registers Universal Type Identifier declarations for a range of source‑code file types, allowing macOS to invoke it for those extensions.
